All persons working on, or intending to work on construction sites. Participants must be 14 and over. Recommended that persons not working in the industry do a refresher after 2 years of inactivity.

Course Aims

WorkCover Statement of Training issued on day of course & a WorkCover card issued directly to participant generally 3 weeks after course completion. Statement of Attainment in partial completion of CPC10111 Certificate I in Construction from the CPC08 Training Package.

  • WHS responsibilities at the workplace
  • Outline of responsibilities of supervisors
  • Consultation at the workplace
  • Health & safety information at the workplace
  • Identifying safety signs
  • The function of work method statements
  • Principles of risk management
  • Reporting mechanisms for unsafe conditions & accidents/incidents
  • Role & function of health & safety committees
  • Emergencies & first-aid requirements
  • Workers compensation & injury management
  • Overview of common industry hazards including at least the following:
  • Manual handling; Hazardous substances; Noise; Operation of plant; UV radiation; HIV & blood borne infection; Electrical work; Working near traffic; Working at heights; Hazards associated with drugs & alcohol; Personal protective equipment
