Course Aims

This course provides Supervisors / Frontline Managers with the knowledge & skills implement & monitor the organisation’s WHS policies, procedures & programs in the relevant work area to meet legislative requirements

Course Content

Provide information to the work team about WHS policies and procedures Explain relevant provisions of WHS legislation and Codes of Practice to inform work team on organisation’s WHS policies, procedures and programs and provide and explain information about identified hazards and the outcomes of risk assessments Implement and monitor participative arrangements for the managing WHS Explain importance of effective consultative mechanisms and implement and monitor consultative procedures deal with issues raised through consultation and record and communicate to the workgroup outcomes of consultation Implement and monitor the organisational procedures for providing WHS training Systematically identify WHS training needs and arrange WHS training needs of team members in consultation and provide workplace learning opportunities and coaching and mentoring assistance Identify and report training costs for inclusion in financial plans Implement and monitor the organisational procedures and legal requirements for identifying hazards and assessing and controlling risks Identify and report on hazards and promptly action team member hazard reports Implement procedures to controls risks using the hierarchy of control Identify and report on inadequacies in existing risk controls and monitor report outcomes Implement and monitor organisational procedures for maintaining WHS records for the team Complete and maintain WHS records for the team and use information and data from WHS work area records to identify hazards and monitor risk control procedures in work area
