Who should attend
All persons working on, or intending to work on construction sites, are required to obtain a General Induction card. Participants must be 14 and over and must be able to provide 100 points of identification in line with the SafeWork NSW requirements. In addition to new entrant students, as per clause 316 of the WHS Regulation 2017, it is stated that persons not working in the industry MUST complete a refresher after 2 years of inactivity.

This course aims to deliver training & assessment to meet the requirements of the nationally recognised unit of competency (CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry) and the SafeWork NSW requirements to be issued with a General Induction card. If students successfully complete this course and meet all requirements, they will be issued with the following:
- SafeWork NSW, Statement of Training
- SafeWork NSW, General Induction card (issued directly to participant generally 3 weeks after course completion)
- Statement of Attainment for completion of CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry

This course delivers the specified, mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work. It requires students to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work. It is expected that site-specific induction training will be conducted prior to conducting construction work.
